A Deep Dive into World of Tarot

All of us are curious to know about our future, and each of us has a different reason for this. However, as the New Year began, people’s curiosity grew as they hoped that this year they would complete the tasks that they had left unfinished the previous year. On our birthdays and New Year’s Eve, we like to read our horoscopes to see what the future has in store for us. To acquire insight into the future, we read our numerology chart, astrology chat, Chinese Zodiacs or Tarot cards. These different charts gave us a peek into our future to some extent, or I can say they gave us hope most of the time. Today I decided to take you on a journey in which we together take a deep dive into the world of tarot and try to get answers about the history of tarot cards, their relationship with astrology, what are a twin card and other exciting facts. So let’s begin

1. What is a Tarot Card? – Tarot cards are cards similar to playing cards that are shuffled by the questioner, and then the fortune teller spreads them in a specific way and tells the questioner to choose one or two cards depending on the situation, and then they tell them the solution to their current problem and also warn them about the future. The tarot card is a similar art to astrology and only difference is the method. The tarot, first known as trionfi and later as tarocchi or tarock, is a pack of playing cards, used from at least the mid-15th century in various parts of Europe to play games such as Italian tarocchini, French tarot, and Austrian Königrufen.

2 How old is the Tarot Card Deck- We do not have clear evidence of who created these cards. The original purpose of the Tarot card was to play a game. The rules for the tarot-like deck are given in a manuscript by Martiano da Tortona. As I previously stated, Tarot is the art of deciphering hidden meanings by reading cards that reveal what the future holds for us. The birth place of the tarot deck is considered Italy, as per sources, and it reached France and Switzerland during the Italian Wars. The Tarot card is not as old as the Stone Age but came into existence a few centuries back. Moreover, it has become popular in recent years as life is becoming more difficult day by day and we want solutions as soon as possible, and Tarot cards seem to be the easiest way to get answers. Tarot decks were invented in Italy in the 1430s, but the first reading occurred in France in 1780. The beginning of the 1960s, with the work of Eden Gray and others, increased the popularity of tarot card reading. However, two famous French occultists, Jean-Baptiste Alliette (also known as Etteilla) and Antoine Court (also known as Court de Gébelin), are typically credited with popularizing Tarot card readings back in Paris in the 1800s.

3 How to read Tarot Card- The standard modern tarot is based on the Venetian or the Piedmontese tarot. These tarot cards come into existence by adding to the existing four-suited pack a fifth suit of 21 specially illustrated cards called trionfi (“triumphs”) and an odd card called il matto (“the fool”). It is made up of 78 cards divided into two groups: the major arcane (which deals with spiritual and important life trends) has 22 cards, also known as trumps, and the minor arcane (which deals with business, career, and ambitions) has 56 cards. When we went to the fortune teller, they spread the card and meditated with the energy of the card. They said the person should choose the card and then read the card.

4 Are tarot card related to astrology- In the past few years, tarot card popularity has been increasing as it is the easiest way to get the answer to our present situation if we are able to contact the right person. But one question always comes to my mind, and maybe you also think about it, i.e., are Tarot cards as old as Vedic Astrology or a new concept to know about the past, present, and future. Tarot cards have their origins in Italy, and astrology has its origins in India. Astrology is all about scientific calculation and a lengthy process, and most of the time, it’s difficult to find the right person who is able to do this calculation. Tarot cards involve the shuffling of the cards and spreading the cards in different ways to interpret the answer, whereas astrology works on the concept of nine plants and their planetary position in our natal and other charts. Tarot card reading has a very individualistic approach in terms of predictions, whereas astrology provides more generic predictions. Predictions from astrology can be applicable to a lot of people at once. With Tarot, you can get into intricate details about any topic you are interested in, while with astrology, that is not possible to some extent. It is true that we can get a detailed prediction through astrology, but that involves heavy calculations of your birth chart. Perhaps some people consider that Tarot card reading is more accurate than astrology reading. We can’t judge this statement as it depends entirely on the individual experience. However, in a situation of crisis, to know what lies ahead, the Tarot cards and astrology provide comfort and some important information.

5 Type of tarot card deck & Difference in them – There are various types of tarot cards. First is the Tarot card. It consists of 78 decks, which consist of 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana. Second is Oracle Cards it have specific meanings and are used solo for daily messages for guidance, the number of cards varies from 12 to 44. Oracle cards are mostly used with Tarot cards, and performing an entire reading with Oracle cards is quite uncommon. Oracle cards come in different sizes as well, and some variations come in square or round. The third type of card is angel cards, which can be in the form of a Tarot or an Oracle card. The Angel Card focused on a thematic yet uplighted message that interpret for the day or week. When angel cards come in the form of traditional tarot cards, they are the most complex of the divination tools to interpret. Oracle cards are easy to interpret as the whole message is written on them. Those people who are atheists or agnostics, however, feel the angle card did not align with the message they are willing to hear. That is why fortune tellers always used the cards which connect with their clients’ so that they were able to get the answers they were searching for.

6 Different Type of Shuffle- The fortune tellers used to do the different types of cards shuffled/ spread to give answer. The details of the spread and drawing cards are given below: –

(i) Celtic Cross: It is a popular type of Tarot spread featuring 10 cards representing different aspects of a person’s life.

(ii) Corgi Shuffle: In this type of shuffle, cards are mixed by sliding them and spreading them out on top of each other, so they pick cards that way.

(iii) Linear Draw: a style of drawing from a Tarot or divination deck where the cards are laid out in a linear fashion.

(iv) Half-cut—when a deck is split in half for the purpose of shuffling and picking cards.

(v)  Triple Cut: When a deck is divided into three sections for the purpose of shuffling and picking cards.

7 What is twin flame Tarot Card- Tarot card reading will help you understanding your twin flames or soul mates. The tarot card calculates the two energies of the people in the relationship. It helps you understand the person’s outlook to create a better understanding and provide a solution to solve the difference that started to create misunderstanding between two people. A Twin Flame Tarot Spread is a sequence of Tarot that cannot be overlooked. This is a 5-card spread that helps to understand the current moment and its dynamics. The details of the spread are given below:

The first card represents the current time for you. It reflects your alignment emotionally and spiritually at this moment.

The second card is the Twin Flame Tarot of the current time. This reflects your twin flame and where he or she is currently emotionally and spiritually.

Third Card Representation of the Core Issue: It reflects the problems that need healing.

The fourth card represents the solution or advice, and this will help both of you heal from the primary issue.

The fifth card represents the progress that is due or the outcome that lies in probability in the future.

8 Did Tarot cards represent different Zodiac signs- In astrology, it is defined that each Zodiac sign represents four elements, i.e., air, water, fire, and earth. To some extent, Tarot has astrological connections, which are thought to have been first combined by the “Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn”. In the Tarot deck, each suit is said to represent one of the four elements, i.e., cups represent water, swords represent air, pentacles represent earth, and wands represent fire. The Major Arcana is said to represent the fifth element, known as ether, or spirit. The elemental groups and their astrological & tarot connection are: Fire: Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius—The Tarot Wands; Earth: Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn—The Tarot Pentacles; Air: Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius—The Tarot Swords; Water: Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces—The Tarot Cups. The Tarot and Astrology are really two tools working from the same energy source in a harmony that can’t be denied. Each astrological sign has two Tarot cards that completely compliment the energy already present in the zodiac signs.

(i) Aries Tarot Cards: The Emperor and The King of Wands

(ii)Taurus Tarot Cards: The Hierophant and The King of Pentacles

(iii)Gemini Tarot Cards: The Lovers and The King of Swords

(iv) Cancer Tarot Cards: The Chariot and The King of Cups

(v) Leo Tarot Cards: Strength and The Queen of Wands

(vi)Virgo Tarot Cards: The Hermit and The Queen of Pentacles

(vii)Libra Tarot Cards: Justice and The Queen of Swords

(viii) Scorpio Tarot Cards: Death and The Queen of Cups

(ix) Sagittarius Tarot Cards: Temperance and The Page of Wands

(x) Capricorn Tarot Cards: The Devil and The Page of Pentacles

(xi) Aquarius: The Star and The knight of sword

(xii) Pisces: The Moon and The King of Cup

9 Can we read your own tarot card- We are always excited when we learn that a friend is knowledgeable about astrological readings and insist on having them read for us. We also wish that if we ourselves are able to read our future. Some tarot card readers think that it is not a good idea to read your own tarot cards, but some have the opposite point of view. Yes, you can read your own tarot cards, but it’s all about practice. However, it is good that many tarot cards these days come along with a booklet that explains the meaning of the card. This booklet is useful, but one should not entirely depend on it. Instead, one should rely upon their intuition. Slowly, when your energy and that card’s energy become one, your accuracy will increase. To get a reading from the Tarot cards, you must learn to trust yourself, stop being too objective, and read with an open mind and heart. When you read your card and you don’t get the answer you wanted, you should not read the card again and again with the same question. It will not going to change anything. You should avoid this trap. You should make a commitment to treat yourself like a client and only read once on a topic.

In short, tarot cards are very interesting and, to some extent, closely related to astrology, so if we learn this art, we can also be able to read our own cards. Have fun and experiment with this new hobby because it will not only expand your knowledge but may also increase your popularity in your group.
